The Tale of Olivia Orton

Olivia Orton lived with her simple parents in their modest home in a typical town. She went to school and had a close friend named Sam. Olivia seemed like an ordinary girl, with her tousled brown hair and hazel eyes hidden behind thick glasses.

Her appearance made other girls in her school tease her, saying, “Old-fashioned! Don’t you wish you had blonde hair and big blue eyes like us? Your looks don’t qualify you to be our friend!” The teasing didn’t stop with the girls...

The boys were rude as well. They would sometimes hide behind school doors and push Olivia down when she approached. They would pull her hair and steal her books. Among them, there was one boy who was the most mean-spirited.

His name was Callum, and he would often hide behind the school fence waiting for Olivia on her way home, throwing small stones at her. Olivia’s close friend Sam would use his bag to shield her from the stones as much as possible, often ending up injured by them.

“Olivia is so old-fashioned!” Callum would yell. “You’re old-fashioned and boring!”

Sam would reassure her, saying, “Don’t pay them any mind, Olivia. You’re smart, witty, and bring a lot of joy. Don’t let their teasing get to you.”

Olivia would press her lips together and stay silent, continuing her way home. This continued for years, from elementary school to middle and high school. Ignoring the bullying wasn’t easy, but Olivia had a big secret… she wasn’t as conventional as they thought!

Every night, as the clock struck midnight, Olivia’s body would begin to shimmer. She would sit in her bed, and in moments, she would transform completely. Her messy brown hair would disappear, replaced by blonde braids. Her thick glasses and brown eyes would vanish, replaced by bright green eyes. Her dull clothes would change into a soft, pink superhero outfit.

Not only did Olivia transform into a superhero, but she also possessed extraordinary powers… not just the ability to fly, but also enhanced hearing and vision, as well as physical strength equivalent to twelve men. No one knew Olivia’s secret, and if she told anyone, her powers would disappear. For years, this was her life, ever since the bullying began. She used her superpowers for good…

Every night, after her transformation, Olivia would stand by her bedroom window and leap away. Instead of falling and crashing into the bushes below, she would propel herself upwards, soaring into the sky. She would head toward the town’s clock tower, where the view from the top gave her a broader perspective on everything happening in the town.

That night, she saw seagulls flying among the streets, squabbling over a tasty morsel one of them had found. Then she saw men returning to their homes after an evening out at the town's restaurants, laughing and joking with each other. Olivia lay back and smiled.

“It looks like it’s going to be a peaceful night,” she said to herself. But it didn’t last long…

In the distance, Olivia heard a woman’s scream. It was coming from far away, but thanks to her extraordinary hearing, Olivia could make out every word. “Leave me alone!” the woman cried. “Give me the bag!” A man’s voice came from the scene. “Give it to me, or I’ll kill you.” “Please,” the woman begged. “I’ll be left without food or money if you steal it from me.”

Olivia didn’t wait long… She looked in the direction of the sound, stretched her arms, and surged toward the clouds. Within seconds, she reached the scene and heard the woman continuing to plead with the man. Olivia looked down and saw the man getting closer to snatching the bag from the woman. The woman, who was elderly, couldn’t hold onto it. As soon as the man grabbed the bag, he turned and started to run.

However, he didn’t get far before something dropped from above—Olivia! She pushed the man and knocked him to the ground, taking the bag from him. As she held him down to prevent him from moving, Olivia returned the bag to the grateful woman.

“Oh, thank you so much, dear!” the woman said, clutching Olivia’s hand. “How can I repay you?”

Olivia smiled and replied, “Just promise me that you will be kind to everyone.”

“Alright, I will!” the elderly woman promised. Olivia turned her gaze to the man on the ground. She looked at him angrily and said, “I won’t allow people like you to threaten the weak. You need to stop these actions, or I’ll turn you over to the police.”

As she spoke, she noticed a small bag of cash behind him. Realizing that this man had been robbing others for a long time, she informed the police about the incident. The police helped capture the man, recover the stolen money, and return it to its rightful owners.

Olivia returned home with the dawn, back to her normal self, becoming the simple girl with thick glasses and tousled brown hair. In the morning, she went to school as usual and met her friend Sam.

Sam, looking worried, said, “I heard a thief was caught last night. Did you hear about it?”

Olivia smiled and replied, “Yes, I heard about it. It seems someone did a heroic deed.”

Sam responded with admiration, “I hope I can be a hero like that someday.”

Olivia looked at Sam gratefully and said, “I’m sure you will be a hero, Sam. You have a big heart and unmatched courage.”

Days and weeks passed, and the bullying at school didn’t stop, but Olivia learned how to overcome it with Sam’s help and her superpowers, which she used to help others whenever they needed it. One night, while she was flying through the sky as a superhero, she saw Callum, the boy who had always bullied her, crying alone in the street.

Olivia decided to descend and talk to him. “What’s wrong, Callum? Why are you crying?”

Callum was surprised to see the superhero in front of him and said, “It’s nothing. I just feel lonely. My real friends have left town, and I realize now how mean I was to others.”

Olivia smiled and said, “Admitting a mistake is the first step toward change. You can start anew and be a better person.”

Encouraged by her words, Callum decided to change his behavior and began to treat others kindly. Over time, Olivia and Callum became friends, and everyone at school learned that true strength comes from kindness and courage.

Thus, Olivia continued to use her superpowers to help others, living a life between ordinary days and heroic nights, inspiring everyone in her town.
