The room was quiet after the emotional conversation between Aboud and Aurora about Gregor. Aboud’s feelings were a mix of sorrow and confusion over Gregor’s sudden suicide. As they were speaking, they heard heavy footsteps approaching from downstairs. At first, Aboud didn’t pay much attention to it, but he had a feeling something was about to happen.
Suddenly, the door opened, and a tall, handsome man in an elegant suit entered, accompanied by security guards. He exuded an aura of authority, and his piercing gaze never left Aboud.
Aurora (surprised, her voice filled with tension): "John? What are you doing here at this hour?"
John was Aurora’s fiancé and a man who knew much about Gregor’s past. As he approached Aboud, a strange look crossed his face as if he recognized him.
John (in a cold and firm tone): "So... you’re Aboud the Syrian, the one Gregor used to talk about."
The room froze for a moment. Aboud felt the air become heavier. He hadn’t expected to hear his name from someone like John. The mystery surrounding John and Gregor was slowly starting to unravel, but Aboud didn’t know how to react in that moment.
Aboud (with clear surprise): "Gregor talked about me? How do you know me?"
Aurora stood between the two men, feeling very anxious. She had no idea that John knew anything about Aboud, nor had she anticipated this encounter at this moment.
Aurora (in a calm voice, trying to diffuse the situation): "John... this is Aboud. He works with us now at the company. There’s no need to worry."
But John wasn’t interested in calming things down. His eyes remained fixed on Aboud, and his voice carried a blend of mockery and challenge.
John (with a cold smile): "Yes, I’ve heard quite a bit about you, Aboud. Gregor talked about you a lot before he died. You seemed to be part of his plans."
Aboud was both confused and anxious. How did John know about him, and why had Gregor been talking about him? He had no idea that there was something bigger going on than he had imagined.
Aboud (his voice shaky): "Plans? What do you mean? Gregor was helping me, but he never mentioned anything about you or any plans."
Aurora felt the situation spiraling out of control. She wanted to keep her professional and personal lives separate, but things were escalating quickly.
Aurora (with anxiety): "John, this isn’t the time to discuss these matters. Aboud is here to work, not to talk about Gregor’s past."
But John wasn’t ready to back down. He stepped closer to Aboud with deliberate steps, his eyes fixed on him as if he were trying to read his every movement and expression.
John (with a sharp tone): "Do you know what Gregor was planning? He trusted you for a reason, and I think you know more than you’re letting on."
Aboud felt the tension rise. He knew this confrontation wouldn’t be simple, but he wasn’t prepared for it to happen so soon. Gregor had been a mentor and a friend, and he hadn’t expected to find himself face-to-face with someone like John.
Aboud (speaking seriously): "All I know is that Gregor was helping me. If there was anything else, I wasn’t a part of it."
John let out a cold laugh, then turned his gaze toward Aurora.
John (coolly): "Well, Aurora, it seems your friend here doesn’t know everything. But I’ll be keeping an eye on him. I’m not entirely comfortable with his presence."
After this tense confrontation, John decided to leave the room. Before he walked out, he gave Aboud one last look, as if sending him an unspoken warning.
John (in a quiet but threatening voice): "We’ll talk again soon, Aboud. I don’t think this will be the last time we meet."
When John left the room, the calm returned, but it was a heavy calm, filled with questions that had no answers.
Aurora (letting out a deep sigh): "Aboud, don’t take what John said too seriously. He’s always this guarded."
But Aboud wasn’t at ease. He knew that John was not just an ordinary man, and that something much bigger was behind all of this.
